About Coffee or Stocks

Updated 4 November 2026 · Educational content

Coffee or Stocks is a small educational website built around one question: what does a spending choice look like over a longer timeline? It combines an opportunity-cost calculator with plain-language explanations of saving habits, compound growth and the limits of investment projections.

The coffee is a starting point

The name is a conversation starter, not an instruction to stop buying coffee. Enjoyment, convenience and time with other people have value too. Our aim is to make the money side of a choice clearer so you can weigh it alongside the things a calculator cannot measure.

What you will find here

The calculator lets you compare one-off and recurring amounts using your own assumed return. Our guides explain how to count a habit accurately, separate contributions from growth, and recognise what inflation, fees and uncertainty leave out of a headline result.

Editorial approach

Articles focus on explanations and worked examples rather than stock tips or product recommendations. Numerical examples are based on the published calculator formulas and label their assumptions. Links to public investor-education resources are provided so readers can examine the underlying concepts.

This site does not present itself as a regulated adviser or claim that its articles have received a professional financial review. Content is general education and cannot account for your income, debts, tax position, goals or capacity for loss.

Corrections and verification

If a result looks surprising, check the amount, frequency and assumed rate first. The methodology page explains the formulas so results can be independently reproduced. External resources belong to their respective publishers; linking to them does not imply endorsement.

Advertising and independence

This website includes Google AdSense code and may display advertising. Advertising is separate from the educational examples. None of the calculator's inputs selects a stock, broker or financial product for you. Read the privacy and cookies information for details about external services.
